We are an environmental chemistry and molecular toxicology research group at Carleton University. We study how contaminants, especially per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), move from consumer products and environmental sources into biological systems, how they transform, and how they influence molecular pathways linked to health.

WHAT WE DO AND WHY IT MATTERS

Exposure

We identify how contaminants enter people and ecosystems through everyday products and environmental pathways.

Transformation

We investigate how these chemicals change in environmental and biological systems, including microbial and metabolic processes.

Mechanisms

We study how these transformations affect molecular signaling pathways linked to toxicity and disease.

Environmental contaminants are often invisible but persistent. Understanding how they move, transform, and interact with biology is essential for assessing risk, informing regulation, and protecting human and ecosystem health.

JOIN THE LAB

We welcome inquiries from undergraduate researchers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows interested in environmental chemistry, analytical chemistry, and toxicology.
